Noise hours

When leaf blowers are allowed in Seattle

Seattle posts leaf-blower hours with the City noise ordinance. I check them before a crew starts early or late.

Hours SDCI lists

Seattle SDCI's leaf blower best-practices page says to follow the City's noise ordinance, and that leaf blowers are permitted in most Seattle zoning districts: (Seattle SDCI, read Oct 19, 2026)

Equipment note

The same pamphlet recommends equipment at 65 decibels (dBA) or below. (Seattle SDCI, read Oct 19, 2026)

What this page does not cover

This page is Seattle only. Seattle SDCI is the source for the hours above. Tacoma Municipal Code and Tacoma Permits publish construction and demolition noise hours only. They do not publish a separate leaf-blower or landscaping schedule, so I do not invent one here.

What I ask the crew

  1. What time will you start, and is that inside the Seattle hours for that day?
  2. What does the blower's labeled sound level say?
  3. Will you shut down by 10 PM if the job runs long?
