How to compare lawn care quotes around Puget Sound
Lawn crews price by the visit, the month or the season. Convert every quote to a per-visit number before you compare.
Why we print no price list
We found no local survey of Puget Sound lawn care prices, so we don't print one. Two or three written quotes for the same yard, put side by side, are the honest yardstick.
Comparing a monthly plan with per-visit pricing
Ask how many visits the monthly price assumes, and whether the crew drops to every other week in the dry part of summer. A flat monthly fee can cover fewer visits in August, which may suit a brown lawn fine. Write the visit count down.
One-time cleanups are priced on their own terms, apart from routine mowing. Overgrown grass, leaf drifts and blackberry along a fence take longer and fill more debris bins.
Extras that change the bill
- Hauling clippings and leaves instead of mulching them.
- Weed or moss treatment, which requires a WSDA license (see weed and moss treatment licenses).
- Bed weeding and edging by hand.
- Steep or fenced-in yards where the crew carries a push mower.
