King County yard waste disposal fees
A lawn crew that hauls clippings in King County pays Solid Waste Division tip fees. The yard-waste line is separate from garbage, and the Cleanup LIFT discount does not apply to businesses.
Yard waste rates
Yard waste must be separated for recycling before arriving at Bow Lake, Cedar Falls, Enumclaw, Factoria, Shoreline, or Vashon. (King County Solid Waste)
- Minimum fee (up to 320 lbs): $20.70. (King County Solid Waste, read Oct 19, 2026)
- Per-ton fee: $129.38. (King County Solid Waste, read Oct 19, 2026)
- Clean wood (untreated) uses the same minimum and per-ton figures. (King County Solid Waste)
What does not apply to a lawn business
Cleanup LIFT takes $20 off the cost of each type of waste, each visit, including yard waste. It is not for businesses, and not for Seattle or Milton residents. (King County Solid Waste, read Oct 19, 2026)
An unsecured load fee is $25 under King County Code 10.12.040. (King County Solid Waste, read Oct 19, 2026)
Garbage for context
Garbage on the same table is a $40.25 minimum and $243.38 per ton. Recyclables only: no charge. (King County Solid Waste, read Oct 19, 2026)
What I ask the lawn company
- Will you haul the yard waste to a King County facility?
- Is the tip fee in the quote, using the yard-waste line rather than garbage?
- Will the load be secured so the unsecured-load fee does not apply?
